In my own mind, context has always been of the utmost importance. There are those moments where a photo, a still frame, a single sentence cannot carry the weight of feelings I am trying to express. So you add more, you throw more weight on the wagon, you add more color to the painting. This ends up (usually) in disaster. The balance fails, the structure falls apart. I have come to learn that failure needs to be as equally part of the process as the creation. The only illumination that I have ever held dear has been due to abject failure. Perhaps Iām too thick headed to hear the advice of others.
